Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman gave Patriots quarterback Tom Brady an earful as they were leaving the field after the Seahawks' upset win on Sunday. His brashness prompted two quick questions:
1. Could anyone really criticize the Seahawks for a little bragging, given their storied tradition of wins and championships?
2. Who's Richard Sherman?
Major League Baseball umpires blew a call in the ALCS game Sunday, missing the Yankees' tag on the Tigers' Omar Infante at second base. Dozens of fans who weren't busy watching NFL games were outraged.
The call has risen again for baseball to fully embrace instant replay technology. But MLB Commissioner Bud Selig is worried it could slow down the game, forcing playoff games to end at 1:40 a.m. instead of 1:37 a.m.
Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter was knocked out of the series with the Tigers because of a broken ankle. Most of the country was appalled when all the Kansas City Chiefs fans started cheering.
The Boston Red Sox are considering New York Yankees bench coach Tony Pena for their vacant manager's position. They think Pena might offer something Bobby Valentine couldn't: A resume that includes participation in important wins from this century.
Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer called a meeting with his defensive coaches and players Sunday after their 52-49 win over Indiana. Meyer said the number of big plays allowed was “absurd,” but I'm sure that's no slam at all on Hoosier football.
