United Way of Allen County announced Tuesday a $15,000 donation to help Catholic Charities take over the Homework Help program, formerly known as the Neighborhood Action Center.

Homework Help volunteers work with refugee children on their homework to ease their transition into schools and the community. Adult English as a Second Language (ESL) programming is also offered two days per week. The program began Oct. 1, student enrollment began Oct. 9, and classes began Thursday. Enrollment is still open to those needing services.

Homework Help offices are located at 2019 Carterton Drive and the hours are Monday through Friday, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Adult ESL classes are Monday and Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. For more information, call Ocleva Williams at 422-5625, ext. 234.
