Kindergartners from St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School took a trip Wednesday afternoon to Kurtz Pumpkin Farm, east of Fort Wayne on State Road 37.

Diana Kurtz explained to the two classes how to grow pumpkins and showed them different varieties. Afterward, the students were treated to a trip to the pumpkin patch. The trip has become an annual event for kindergartners, said their teacher, Beth Pelner.

Parents and children took a wagon ride to the field, where each student picked out a pumpkin to take home. As the kids spread out across the field, one parent remarked that the pumpkins at the farthest corners are the best.
