DeKalb crash injures 2; 1 driver charged

Two women were injured Sunday afternoon when their cars collided south of Garrett, according to a DeKalb County Sheriff's Department report.

Mildred W. Nicodemus, 93, of Bradenton, Fla., was going west about 2:45 p.m. in a 2007 Buick on County Road 68 and stopped at a stop sign at the intersection with Indiana 327, the report said. The Buick continued into the intersection and struck a 2002 Hyundai Sonata driven by Christine L. Herrick of Auburn.

Nicodemus did not complain of injuries but was taken to Parkview Hospital for a possible head injury, police said. Herrick complained of injuries to her neck, stomach and right wrist and was also taken to Parkview.

Nicodemus was charged with failure to yield the right of way at a through intersection, the report said.

Both cars were total losses, the report said.

The LaOtto Fire Department and DeKalb EMS assisted the sheriff's department at the scene.
