Richard Harmon II, of the 1000 block of Home Avenue, was being held Monday at the Allen County Jail on three counts of child molesting and a charge of failing to register. His bail was $70,000.
On Aug. 5, the girl’s parents took her to the emergency room of St. Joseph Hospital where they told a doctor she had been molested, according to court documents.
In an interview, the girl told authorities Harmon had sexual contact with her on a recent occasion. She said he told her not to tell anyone about it, court papers said.
Harmon told police he slept next to the girl the night of Aug. 4, but denied touching her intentionally and said “that if something happened, it happened while he was asleep,” according to court documents.
Harmon, convicted of child molesting in 2001, received a four-year sentence and was released in 2005, according to the Allen County sex offender registry.
