Motorcyclist injured in DeKalb rail crossing crash

Bike destroyed by passing train

A Waterloo motorcyclist broke his leg when his bike crashed on a railroad crossing Sunday, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department.

Brian K. Frye, 52, of 2341 U.S. 6, Waterloo, was northbound about 9:15 p.m. Sunday on County Road 27 south of U.S. 6 when he lost control of  his 2009 Harley Davidson at a railroad crossing.

Frye was thrown from the motorcycle, and the bike was destroyed when it was hit by an eastbound Norfolk Southern train, police said

The motorcyclist was taken to Parkview Regional Hospital by ambulance and treated for a broken leg and cuts to the head and arm.
