The Fort Wayne Museum of Art will present two exhibits from two artists who portray civil rights activists who protested segregation laws in the South in the 1960s.

•Charlotta Janssen is a painter who creates large oil portraits of peaceful protesters. The portraits are derived from the mug shots of the civil rights workers taken at the time of their arrests. Her exhibit is titled “Freedom Riders and Bus Boycotters: Threads of a Story.”

Eric Etheridge is an author and photographer who will exhibit black-and-white photographs he took of the civil rights activists. He juxtaposes modern-day photos of them with their mug shots from the '60s. His exhibit is titled “Breach of Peace: Portraits of the 1961 Freedom Riders,” which is also the title of his 2008 book.

When: Janssen's exhibit will be on display Saturday-Jan. 27.

Etheridge's exhibit will be on display now through Dec. 30.

Gallery hours: 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday; 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursday; and noon-5 p.m. Sunday.

Where: Fort Wayne Museum of Art, 311 E. Main St.

Cost: Free to members; $5, adults; $3, students in kindergarten through college; $10 for families; and free admission every Sunday and Thursday.
