FORT WAYNE —
Police investigated a robbery at Walgreens at 6201 Stellhorn Road on Oct. 4.
Court records allege Beren Lemberg, 20, entered the business shortly after 1 a.m. and handed the pharmacist a handwritten note stating, “Give me all your fentanyl patches and methadone or somebody is gonna get hurt. You have 1 minute.”
The pharmacist bagged five boxes of patches and bottles of pills and handed the bag to Lemberg, court records said. The medication was valued at $1,457.
Though the threat of harm was made, the robber did not show a weapon and no injuries were reported, police said.
The robbery was recorded on the store’s security cameras, and the recording was released to the media. Later that day, Fort Wayne dispatchers received an anonymous call identifying Lemberg as the robber. Police contacted family members, who later confirmed Lemberg’s identity in the video and photographs, according to court documents.
Officers also gathered video recordings from a nearby gas station to confirm Lemberg’s location immediately after the robbery. The gas station’s video showed him running through the station’s lot at 1:05 a.m., court records said.
Lemberg, of the 4900 block of Southlane Road, was booked into the Allen County Jail on a robbery charge. He was being held in lieu of $10,000 bail. He was also being held in lieu of $10,000 on an additional theft charge.
