Police found a man lying in the street – beaten, bloodied, bound and blindfolded – east of downtown on Sunday afternoon.

According to Fort Wayne Police reports, several people called 911 at about 4:15 p.m. Sunday to report a bloody man lying in the street in the 900 block of Columbia Avenue, near Loree Street.

Police said the man was screaming in pain and had numerous bruises, cuts and open wounds. He was bleeding heavily from his mouth and chin, and several of his upper teeth were missing, according to the reports.

The man’s hands and feet were bound with cords, he was blindfolded and his pants were down to his ankles, police said in the reports. Witnesses told police the man had been trying to walk down the street.

The injured man told police that three men armed with baseball bats and guns had beaten him inside the rear upstairs apartment at a home in the 900 block of Columbia. Inside the apartment, police found “blood all over the floor of the kitchen,” along with an overturned chair and a bloody stick, the reports said.

A woman told police she had seen two men run from the house, get into a black SUV and flee eastbound on Columbia, the reports said.
