Residents, pets flee Aboite fire

MORE ARTICLES

The Aboite Township Fire Department extinguished a house fire Saturday night just west of Fort Wayne.

About 8 p.m., firefighters were sent to 14119 Sandstone Drive, a two-story home in a housing addition near Illinois and Hamilton roads.

Aboite Township Fire Chief Gale Stelzer II said flames were engulfing a back corner of the house when firefighters arrived.

The residents of the house and their pets escaped without injuries, he said.

Fire crews from neighboring communities assisted. The fire was under control in about 25 minutes, Stelzer said.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation. Stelzer said a small propane tank may have been involved.
