Sheriff on lookout for 4-legged recruit

MORE ARTICLES

FORT WAYNE — The Allen County Sheriff’s Department is looking for a new recruit to join the force.

But not just any recruit.

The department announced Tuesday that it is in need of a German shepherd to join the ranks of its K-9 unit and is asking the public for a qualified dog.

The dog should be between 1 and 3 1/2 years old, must pass a physical and have a good temperament, according to the department.

All candidates will be screened by a veterinarian and the department’s master K-9 trainer.

Anyone with a dog meeting the requirements and willing to donate the animal should call master K-9 trainer Robert Compton at 449-4597.
