Fort Wayne Police are investigating an armed robbery early Tuesday morning of a gas station northeast of downtown – making at least four robberies on the city's northeast side in the past week.

An employee with the Marathon station at State Boulevard and Crescent Avenue told police that two men came into the station sometime around 4:22 a.m., according to a police report. The employee said one of the men pointed a silver and black gun at him and told him to get down, according to the report.

The employee told police one of the men ordered him to open the cash drawer and give him the money. The employee said he handed over the cash but did not know exactly how much was in the drawer, the report said.

The two men ran south on Crescent Avenue.

The employee described one of the men as about 6 feet tall and younger, wearing a brown Carhartt jacket, dark hooded sweat shirt and mask over the bottom half of his face. The other man was wearing a gray hooded sweat shirt, the employee told police.

A second employee of the gas station gave police a similar account of the robbery, adding that the men were wearing blue jeans.

Officer Raquel Foster, a spokeswoman for the police department, said Wednesday that police have made no arrests in the robbery.

According to the report, an Allen County police dog tracked the men south to the 1600 block of Crescent Avenue but did not find the men or any evidence.

Foster said last week that police have begun to see an upswing in robberies this fall – an increase that often accompanies the holiday season. In a single day last week, three robberies were reported at northeast Fort Wayne businesses: One at a Georgetown bank, one at a Georgetown dollar store and another at a grocery on St. Joseph Boulevard.

Fort Wayne police divide the city into four quadrants: northeast, northwest, southeast and southwest.
