Firefighters from the Fort Wayne Fire Department were able to rescue a pet from a burning home around 1:45 a.m.
Two adults and a child were able to evacuate from a home in the 5700 block of Hartford Drive, according to a news release from the fire department. Firefighters were dispatched around 1:38 a.m. and were on the scene seven minutes later, where they found a two-story home with light smoke coming from the rear of the structure.
Firefighters were able to gain access to the home, using an interior attack to bring the blaze under control bu 1:56 a.m., according to the release. The fire was contained to the kitchen area, with the structure sustaining moderate smoke, fire and water damage.
A dog was rescued from the home, and no injuries were reported. The incident is under investigation.
