A repeat drunken driver who caused a crash that seriously injured a man last spring in southeast Fort Wayne now faces 11 felony charges, according to court papers.

The evening of May 13, Maury Turner was driving a 2006 Ford F-150 pickup truck east on Manford Street, approaching Adams Street.

His 11-year-old stepdaughter was in the front passenger seat, and data later retrieved from the truck showed he was going 70 mph in a 30-mph zone, court papers stated.

A 1998 Ford Mustang in front of Turner was trying to make a left turn onto Adams Street when Turner's truck hit the driver's side of the Mustang, court papers stated.

Freddrick Silas and his 8-year-old son were passengers in the Mustang driven by Aaron Gerber. Silas, Turner and Turner's daughter suffered minor injuries, and Silas' son was not hurt. Gerber was taken to a hospital, with serious head injuries, according to court papers.

A test found that Turner had a blood-alcohol level of 0.21 percent, court papers stated, more than twice the legal limit for intoxication.

Turner, 39, of the 1900 block of West Colonial Avenue, was charged Monday with operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury, neglect of a dependent, four counts of criminal recklessness and five counts of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. He was not in custody Monday.

Turner has previous drunken-driving convictions in Allen County from 1994 and 2008, according to court records.
