BLUES GREAT: Renowned blues guitarist and vocalist Coco Montoya will perform at 8 p.m. at Come2Go Music Hall, 323 W. Baker St. Previous reviews of Montoya's shows have used words such as “fiery” “piercing” and “soulful” to describe his music and vocals.

Tickets are $30 at the door.

AMAZING ARCHITECTURE: Now through this weekend will be your last chance to see the more than 100 entries in the annual Festival of Gingerbread at The History Center, 302 E. Berry St.

Special events also are planned:

•Beginning at 5 p.m. Friday, all non-consignment items in the gift shop will be sold at 20 percent off regular price. The price of gingerbread cookies also will be reduced to 50 cents each.

•At 8:30 a.m. Saturday, the Gingerbread Pursuit run/walk fundraiser for The History Center will take place around downtown Fort Wayne. Participants can pick up their entry packets at 7:15 a.m. at Cinema Center, 437 E. Berry St. They also receive free admission to the Gingerbread Festival after the race. •From 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Science Central and the History Center will present the “Science of Sugary Structures” as children explore building a sturdy gingerbread house. Program cost is $3 per child, in addition to museum admission.

•From 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, join in a Cookie Decorating Party. Cost is $1 per person, in addition to museum admission.

Festival of Gingerbread hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. today, 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and noon-5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5, ages 19-58; $3, ages 59 and older and ages 3-18; and free, ages 2 and younger. For more information, call 426-2882 or go to www.fwhistorycenter.com.

MUSICAL CELEBRATION: Salute the season with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic's annual Holiday Pops concert at 8 p.m. at the beautiful Embassy Theatre, 121 W. Jefferson Blvd.

Bradley Thachuk, the Phil's former associate conductor and longtime Holiday Pops planner and conductor, will be back again this year in a guest conductor role. As in recent years, the Phil's music will be complemented with vocals by talented students from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.

The performances also will feature the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Chorus and Fort Wayne Children's Choir.

Additional Holiday Pops concerts will be presented at 8 p.m. Saturday and Dec. 14-15 and at 2 p.m. Dec. 15.

DANCE CLASSIC: The Fort Wayne Ballet continues its annual production of “The Nutcracker” at 8 p.m. at the Arts United Center, 303 E. Main St. The performance tells the story of a young girl whose magical uncle sends her on dreamy adventures where she encounters fairies, a Mouse King and Nutcracker Prince.

Additional performances are at 2:30 and 8 p.m. Saturday and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

Tickets are $31 and $36, adults; $25 and $31, ages 60 and older; $20 and $25, ages 11-18; and $17 and $20, ages 3-10. Children ages 2 and younger can sit free on a paying patron's lap, but the ticket buyer must request a lap ticket.

ENJOY A LAUGH: Christian comedian Chonda Pierce will be in town for shows at 2 and 7 p.m. (the evening show is sold out) at First Assembly of God Christian Center, 1400 W. Washington Center Road.

Tickets are $5, ages 6-12; $10 each, groups of 10 or more; general admission, $15 advance and $20 at door; and Artist Circle, $20. Ages 5 and younger are free, except in the Artist Circle seating.

'WONDERFUL' TIME: Get a different perspective on the holiday film classic by taking in the live stage performance of “It's a Wonderful Life” at 7:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Theater, 300 W. Wayne St.

As in the film, the play plot revolves around George Bailey and the lesson he learns about the value of faith, family and friends.

Additional shows will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, and Dec. 14 and 15; and at 2 p.m. Sunday and Dec. 16.

Tickets are general admission, $20 presale or $24 if bought at the door; age 65 and older, $18 presale or $22 at the door; and full-time students, $10 presale and at the door. LOCAL VOCALS: Enjoy songs of the season as the Heartland Sings choral group presents Heartland Sings: Holidays at 2:30 p.m. at Plymouth Congregational Church, 501 W. Berry St.

The performance will include a mix of well-known holiday classics as well as new songs Heartland staff members believe will have enduring popularity.

Additional performances will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at Auburn Presbyterian Church, 111 W. 12th St. in Auburn; 7 p.m. Dec. 15 at Homestead High School's auditorium, 4310 Homestead Road; and 2:30 p.m. Dec. 16 at Trinity Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 709 E. Business U.S. 30 in Columbia City.

Tickets for all shows $20 each and are available at www.heartlandchorale.org or by 436-8080. Children ages 18 and younger are free when accompanied by a paying adult.
