A Fort Wayne man was being held in the Steuben County Jail after a tip led officers to search a minivan parked in a secluded area in rural Jackson Township.

Deputies were sent to a wooded area on County Road 600 West, north of County Road 200 South, just after 8 a.m. Wednesday. When they arrived, they reported finding a 1999 Chrysler Voyager and Scotty L. Miller, 33.

The Fort Wayne man had what deputies believe was meth and items commonly used to make the illegal drug, as well as several guns and other items that had been reported stolen from a LaGrange County home near Wolcottville, according to a statement issued Thursday by the sheriff’s department.

Miller was preliminarily charged with felony possession of methamphetamine with a firearm and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He was being held on $22,505 bond.

The Hudson Marshal’s Office, the Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Division and the Indiana State Police Meth Suppression Section assisted.
