Fort Wayne officials say people from 12 different ZIP codes have chosen to make their homes in a 66-home rent-to-own development in the southeast-side Renaissance Pointe neighborhood.

Mayor Tom Henry joined the project developer, city staff and community members Friday to dedicate the last of the homes to be built and leased. All 66 of the homes now have families living in them or waiting to move in.

City officials said people have moved to the neighborhood from all corners of Allen County.

"People are moving to this beautiful neighborhood and helping raise property values and property tax revenue," said John Urbahns, the city's director of community development, in a statement. "It's a win-win for everyone."

The tax-subsidized development cost about $11 million to build, relying largely on credits from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority and federal money distributed through the city.
