Gunshot victim's death in Fort Wayne declared a homicide

The death of a man found shot to death in a car with another man Friday night has been declared a homicide by the Allen County coroner's office.

An autopsy was performed Saturday afternoon on the victim, identified as Paul W. Ward III, 22, of Fort Wayne, according to Patt Kite, deputy coroner. Ward was found dead at 9:30 p.m. Friday in a car in the 700 block of Milton Street. A second man in the vehicle, whose name has not been released, was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Ward's death is the 27th homicide in Fort Wayne and Allen County this year. His death remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the coroner's office and the Allen County prosecutor's office.
