Elkhart woman charged with pill-selling near school

MORE ARTICLES

An Elkhart woman has been charged with dealing a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, Syracuse police said today.

Carol Ann Garcia Cruz, 44, was being held in the Kosciusko County Jail on $20,000 bond, police said in a statement.

The statement said Cruz was arrested Thursday after officers made an undercover purchase of numerous prescription pills in the parking lot of a business, across the street from a preschool.

The arrest followed several undercover operations in Syracuse during the last few weeks, the statement said. It said Syracuse police were assisted by the county prosecutor's office in the investigation.
