A “free country” shouldn’t prohibit its citizens from using illicit drugs, and it certainly shouldn’t incarcerate them for it. Sovereign adults should be able to do with their body as they please.

The stores will not and cannot fire employees for suggesting they form a union. This is not the ’40s.

The Democrats demand that taxes be raised on the rich and the Republicans want to close tax loopholes to increase revenues. Do you think the ultra-rich will pay more taxes with a higher tax rate? They don’t pay anywhere near the tax rate today because of loopholes.

Now that (former Purdue University basketball players) Robbie Hummel, JaJuan Johnson and E’Twaun Moore have graduated, Matt Painter is truly being exposed.

The Maplecrest Road extension to New Haven is the biggest waste of $30 million in Indiana history. We knew there was no need, and it is getting very little traffic now.

What good is commander-in-chief without any military experience?

The bank robbers sure have the upper upper hand on (Fort Wayne Police Chief Rusty) York. You can’t drive a half mile without seeing a cop car, but they are never around a bank in time to make a catch. Pitiful performance.

Wish we could’ve delayed the leaf-pickups or have another one. A lot of my trees don’t even begin to drop leaves until the time of the second pickup. Oh, well, I’m putting my garbage fees to good use!

There are two types of religious people. Those who pray for their own enrichment, and those who pray that those who are suffering will soon find peace. I wonder what type Jesus most admires?

Hey, Rep. (John) Boehner! Stand your ground! … We go over (the fiscal cliff), so be it! It will be (President) Obama’s doing! This is what these fools voted for in November!

To the ranter talking about the lack of space for wheelchairs and scooters in retail stores. I’m with you on that. Unfortunately, it’s not just at Christmas. I’ve written to the CEOs of a couple local retailers only to either be ignored or told that it was a “marketing” plan.

Lima and Ludwig roads. The turn lanes on Lima are synced. The next stop light (and the rest going north) are one side, all lanes go first. Why the inconsistency on a state highway?

It is very frustrating for conservatives who helped get rid of Richard Lugar to see a liberal take the Senate seat. But one consolation is this new senator, who says he will be like and vote like Lugar, will now fight against implementation of Obamacare since Lugar was against it. Golly, ya think?

To the “Fox-watching troglodyte” (your phrase, not mine): … Conservative news sources predicted Mitt Romney was going to win the election in a landslide, which obviously was not the result. By all means watch, listen to or read what makes you feel good, but prepare for more surprises if you don’t seek out other perspectives.

Nation page headlines “Illegal immigration falls.” That says to me they are almost all here.

A writer … claims … (a local radio station) is a legacy station and a brand worth protecting. How can anyone equate the legacy with the deceit and hate spewing from the current (station)?

Just read another article about how American schools aren’t measuring up to their overseas counterparts. Don’t people realize that they don’t test everyone? The scores they report are only their top students. We test everyone, even those with learning disabilities and those who cannot read the English tests because they speak another language. Let’s be fair and only test our top and see how we rank.

Teachers’ unions are doing to government schools what the UAW did to Government Motors. Can’t we import Japanese schools?

LOL at Purdue fans bragging about a toilet bowl bid.
