SMOOTH SOUNDS: Ease into the holiday weekend with the musical stylings of Dan Heath & Co. from 7 to 9 p.m. at Triangle Park, 3010 Trier Road.

Heath, a judge in Allen Superior Court, also can hold court with the best of local musicians. The tunes range from Sinatra to light jazz and easy listening.

He'll be playing in the bar, so you must be age 21 or older to enter. No cover charge.

FRIDAY

GO FOR A SPIN: Or a graceful jump. Or just enjoy gliding over the ice with family or friends at the Headwaters Park skating rink, which is located under the pavilion on Clinton Street just north of Superior Street.

Holiday hours begin Friday and continue through Jan. 5. During those days, the rink is open noon-10 p.m. weekdays, 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturdays and 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Sundays. However, the rink closes at 6 p.m. Monday, which is Christmas Eve, and will be closed all day Tuesday, Christmas Day.

Admission is $5, ages 14 and older, and $3, ages 13 and younger. Cost is $2 if you need to rent skates.

Each Wednesday, children ages 13 and younger skate free courtesy of grants from the Lupke and Auer foundations. The skate rental fee still applies if they don't have their own skates.
