As of 6 a.m. Saturday, Indiana Michigan Power crews had restored service to all parts of Fort Wayne after a large outage possibly caused by the winter storm started Friday afternoon.

The outage affected 17,000 customers, many on Fort Wayne's northeast side, and knocked out several traffic signals in that area.

A mechanical failure at a substation in northeastern Fort Wayne affected other substations, I&M spokeswoman YaVonda Ulfig said Friday afternoon. Excessive wind was suspected as the cause.

Crews were continuing Saturday morning to get 9,700 customers in southwest Michigan and northwest Indiana back online.
