BLOOMINGTON -- So now we know exactly why freshman forward Jeremy Hollowell isn't playing for Indiana these days.

Well, we know more, anyway.

According to athletic director Fred Glass, Hollowell missed his third straight game because of NCAA compliance issues.

How long before they get resolved?

What are the issues?

Glass offered no specifics in a university release Friday night.

Glass said the problem doesn't involve “any improper actions or in-actions by the institution or the men's basketball program.”

Glass also said Hollowell and his family initially raised the issues, that Hollowell has fully cooperated, and that, in Glass' opinion, Hollowell “appears to be a victim -- not a perpetrator -- in this matter.”

Hollowell has appeared in 10 games this season and averaged 5.7 points and 3.0 rebounds in 13.3 minutes. He opened the season strong, totaling 12 points against Bryant and 14 against North Dakota State. He grabbed six rebounds against Sam Houston State.

Here is the official release:

“As he has for the last two games, Indiana University Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Fred Glass has directed the men's basketball program to withhold Jeremy Hollowell from tonight's game pending resolution of NCAA compliance issues.

“While stating that it is premature to discuss these issues in any detail, Glass stated that they do not involve any improper actions or in-actions by the institution or its men's basketball program.

"Glass further stated that Jeremy and his family are actually the ones to initially raise these issues, that Jeremy has continued to fully cooperated in this matter, and that in Glass's opinion Jeremy appears to be a victim–not a perpetrator–in this matter.

"Glass expressed his appreciation to the NCAA for its assistance and cooperation, and his optimism that these issues will soon be resolved. Until then, neither he nor anyone else at IU will have any further comment.”
