Two people were injured this morning when a car went left of center on Indiana 427 near Hamilton and collided with two cars going in the opposite direction, the DeKalb County Sheriff's Department said.

In a statement, the sheriff's department said Brian K. Tarlton, 22, of Waterloo was driving north on the state highway south of County Road 16 about 5:20 a.m. when he went left of center and clipped the driver's-side outside rear-view mirror of a car driven south by Ellen K. Beck, 56, of Edon, Ohio.

Tarlton's car continued and collided with the left front of a car driven south by Michael A. Beck Sr., 55, of Montpelier, Ohio, the statement said. It said Beck's car went off the road and rolled onto its side before stopping.

Tarlton and Michael Beck were trapped in their cars and were extricated by firefighters, the statement said. It said Tarlton was flown to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne for treatment. Michael Beck was treated at DeKalb Health in Auburn and released.

Ellen Beck was not injured, police said.

The sheriff's department was assisted by Hamilton police; the Waterloo town marshal; Hamilton, Butler and Waterloo firefighters; DeKalb EMS; and a  Parkview Samaritan helicopter.
