Shopping column: New name, owners for flower shop

A Beautiful Day by Design will also sell art and handmade greeting cards.

A new full-service flower shop has opened at 2325 Goshen Road, just north of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church.

Becky and Brian Waite bought the old Ridings Flowers and Gifts and changed the name to A Beautiful Day by Design.

The shop delivers daily in the Fort Wayne area and nationwide through Bloomnet.

Becky Waite has 15 years of experience as a floral designer.

Local artist Pam Summer sells paintings at the shop, which also sells original handmade greeting cards.

The shop is open 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m.-noon Saturdays. Its website is, and it's also on Facebook at abeautifuldaybydesign.

Women's apparel stores closing

•All Fashion Bug stores are closing. The one in Apple Glen Crossing, 1730 Apple Glen Blvd., likely will close Saturday. The Stellhorn Road store already has closed, and the one in Glenbrook Commons likely will close by the end of January. What's left in the store is discounted 60 percent to 80 percent.

•CJ Banks in Jefferson Pointe is closing today. The Glenbrook Square store will remain open.

Color your world

If the monochromatic palette of winter has you yearning for some color, visit the Orchard Gallery of Fine Art this month. The gallery at 6312-A Covington Road is hosting an all media exhibition, “Bright. Bold. Brilliant. A Celebration of Color Featuring Many Artists.”

Colorful paintings, glass, photos, jewelry, pottery, scarves and more will be on display and for sale. Hours: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday; and 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday.
