Luers boys lose 3 players

MORE ARTICLES

Bishop Luers boys basketball coach James Blackmon Sr. confirmed Saturday three players have quit the program.

Seniors Michael Rogers, Kendrick Mullen and Charles Gaston are no longer on the team.

“That’s correct,” Blackmon wrote in a text message.

Mullen also confirmed the players’ departure in a Facebook message.

The three players joined the team late this year after helping lead the football program to a fourth straight Class 2A state championship in November.

Rogers, a receiver, has committed to Bowling Green.

Mullen, a defensive back, is uncommitted and the brother of Indiana football player Kenny Mullen.

Gaston is a running back and also has not made any college plans known.

The Knights are 4-4 after a 95-59 loss to Northrop on Friday and ranked No. 8 in the latest 2A poll.

Blackmon’s son, junior James Blackmon Jr., leads the state in scoring at 37.3 points per game.
