Restaurant news: Noodles & Company opens on Illinois Road

Asian, Mediterranean and American food are on the menu at the chain restaurant.

Noodles & Company, a new chain restaurant offering Asian, Mediterranean and American food, opened Monday.

The eatery, which sells “noodles, salads and sandwiches from around the world,” according to its website, is at 4602 Illinois Road, near Target.

Menu items range from Wisconsin mac and cheese to pad thai, Bangkok curry, and pasta dishes, such as penne rosa. The food is cooked to order and ranges from healthy dishes to comfort food. It's served on real china with real silverware.

General Manager Kevin Scheil said there are 340 Noodles & Co. restaurants.

New eatery at Rousseau Centre

Comfort Food Café opened Jan. 7 in the basement of the Rousseau Centre, formerly the City-County Building, 1 Main. St. Owner Tammi McKee says the hours are 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday-Friday. The eatery serves breakfast, lunch, sandwiches, soups, salads and daily specials. McKee plans to add delivery services to the immediate downtown area, within three to five blocks of the eatery. Joseph Decuis recognized

AAA Chicago has named Joseph Decuis restaurant in Roanoke a four-diamond restaurant again. Only 2.6 percent of the 29,000 restaurants approved by AAA make the Four Diamond list. Joseph Decuis has received the award annually since 2006.

New dish at coliseum

Memorial Coliseum has added a new, award-winning dish to its menus.

ARAMARK Executive Chef Chris Zimmerman's pork belly macaroni and cheese was named “Best Entrée” during the recent Taste of the Chamber event at the Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce, 826 Ewing.

The dish is available as an entrée for $9 or as a side item for $3 in the coliseum's Rooftop Lounge, which is open to guests ages 21 and over before Komets and Mad Ants games and most concerts.

The pork belly macaroni and cheese is also available at the BBQ-58 concession stand, located in the 200-level concourse of the arena as a side item for $3. It also will be available in the coliseum's premium seating area (suites and club seats) during select events in February and March and on the coliseum's special event catering menu.

Yum Yums unite yogurt, chocolate

Yum Yums Yogurt U Make, 10454 Maysville Road, in Chapel Ridge, is now offering Fort Wayne Chocolate Fountain's chocolate on its topping bar.

Also, look for Yum Yums to open a second location in the near future.

Fighting hunger

An upcoming event will promote hunger awareness and raise funds for hunger relief in Allen County.

Stand Up For Hunger will be 5-8 p.m. Feb. 10 at Trolley Steaks and Seafood, 2898 E. Dupont Road. It will include entertainment by Joe Justice Live, small entrees, wine tasting and a custom golf cart raffle. Tickets are $100 each and can be bought by calling 422-3528 or by visiting Event sponsorship opportunities are also available by calling Steve Staley at 422-3528, Ext. 103. It's hosted by Associated Churches of Fort Wayne and Allen County, Franciscan Center and Miss Virginia's Mission House.
