Give me an F. Give me a W. Give me an M. Give me an O. Give me an A.
Those initials, smooshed together, are shorthand for the Fort Wayne Museum of Art.
As a fundraiser commemorating the Fort Wayne Art League's 75th anniversary, the league is embarking on a project that incorporates those five letters.
Starting Friday, the Art League, whose primary purpose is to raise funds for the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, will distribute 75 4-inch by 6-inch canvases with an F, W, M, O or A on them. Prospective artists can take one letter or one of the 15 sets of five letters and embellish them using acrylic, oil, chalk or watercolor paint, said Marita O'Neil-Maloley, president of the Art League.
The completed canvases are to be done by April 1, she said.
The league intends to have a show and reception at an as-yet-to-be-determined date. A small selection of the best canvases will be auctioned, and the rest will be sold at $25 each, she said.
All proceeds will go to the Fort Wayne Museum of Art.
The Fort Wayne Art League is a group of 40 women whose purpose, in addition to raising funds for the museum, is to increase interest in art in league members.
