A Fort Wayne man faces a felony marijuana charge, accused of having more than 2 pounds of the drug in an SUV.

The LaGrange County Sheriff's Department said a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Mark J. Mauricio, 51, was stopped Friday at U.S. 20 and Townline Road.

Deputy Brian Emelander's K-9 partner, Tyson, alerted officers that illegal drugs might be in the vehicle, and then helped officers find them, according to a statement issued by the sheriff's department.

Mauricio was taken to the LaGrange County Jail on initial charges of possession of more than 30 grams of marijuana and operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated on a controlled substance, the statement said. His bond was set at $6,000.

LaGrange town police assisted at the scene.
