A Fort Wayne woman has been charged with a January robbery after she allegedly carjacked two vehicles Sunday.

Police say Traci L. Dennison, 36, stole one car from its driver Sunday morning, wrecked it, then stole a second at a different location.

According to a report from the Fort Wayne Police Department, an elderly woman in the Kmart parking lot, 820 N. Coliseum Blvd., had her 1994 green Pontiac Bonneville stolen at gunpoint by Dennison sometime after 9 a.m. She then crashed the car into the wall at the end of the lot and left the scene.

Around 10:45 a.m., according to police, she carjacked a black Acura from Target, 5333 Stellhorn Road. Officers spotted Dennison driving the car on East State Boulevard. Dennison pulled over in front of the Orange Garden Restaurant after a short pursuit. She opened the door and got out holding her hands in the air. She told police a weapon in her car wasn't a real gun but a BB gun. Officers found the BB gun on the driver seat floorboard.

According to the report, after an interview at the station, Dennison was charged with two counts of armed robbery and one count of felony fleeing with a vehicle. She subject was taken to an area hospital, police said, after she admitted to using heroin and cocaine earlier in the day.

Police also believe she committed a robbery last month. At about 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 11, according to police, Dennison allegedly went into Walgreens and approached the cash register with an item. When the cashier scanned the item, Dennison allegedly pointed a black handgun at the worker and demanded cash, police said in a statement.

After the worker tried unsuccessfully to open the cash drawer, Dennison allegedly turned to a female customer behind her and demanded the woman's purse at gunpoint, the statement said. Dennison then allegedly fled the store with the purse, which contained an undisclosed amount of cash and several credit cards.

At the time of the robbery, the suspect was identified only as a woman who appeared to be in her early 20s, but police identified her as Dennison with help from the public, the statement said.
