Mother's Day may bring bigger sales, but “Valentine's Day is harder,” said Cheryl Wene, who with her husband, Chuck Wene, has owned Lopshire Flowers & Gifts in Georgetown Square for 7 years. Mother's Day always falls on a weekend, she explained, so drivers and other temporary workers are easier to hire. Another challenge for Valentine's Day: Flowers have to be wrapped against the cold.
On Wednesday, her shop was bustling as she and her employees worked to get 400-500 arrangements ready for the holiday.
