Burglary suspects caught with help of homeowners

FORT WAYNE — Residents of a home in northeast Fort Wayne interrupted a burglary Saturday morning, and police officers caught the intruders after a car chase, authorities said.

At 7:27 a.m., officers responded to a burglary-in-progress call from the home in the 5600 block of Autumn Woods Trail, near St. Joe Center and Reed roads, said officer John Chambers, a police spokesman.

The residents saw three men in the house who ran when they were spotted and drove off in a white Pontiac, Chambers said.

A short time later, police saw a car matching that description near St. Joe Boulevard and Tennessee Avenue, and they tried to pull it over, he said.

The driver did not stop, prompting a pursuit that ended on Delaware Avenue, where the three men exited the car and fled. Officers captured the three after a short foot chase, Chambers said.

The men, identified as Dylan Lenegar, 19, Caleb Saylor-Hicks, 18, and Seth Keel, 20, were each booked into the Allen County Lockup on a preliminary felony charge of burglary. Lenegar, of the 400 block of Huffman Street, and Keel, from Toledo, were being held in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Saylor-Hicks, of the 3400 block of Auer Drive, also faced a preliminary felony charge of resisting law enforcement. His bail was $12,500.
