Letter to the editor: Post office closing policy hurts customers

I am writing in response to the recent letter regarding the post office closing times. I, too, had a similar experience at the Northwood station.

It was approximately 20 minutes before closing time on a Saturday. There was a man in the lobby telling people if they didn't have business that could be conducted in the lobby such as the stamp vending machine or post office box that they would have to leave and come back another time since they would be closing soon.

I had a couple of parcels to mail and stamps to purchase. Needless to say, I left without being able to conduct my business. I sent my parcels via UPS and bought my stamps at Scott's.

For an organization facing the challenges that the post office has, it seems a poor time to be alienating their customers and turning business away.
