'Storm' damage light so far Tuesday in Fort Wayne

As of 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, freezing rain had draped trees in Fort Wayne with fledgling icicles but had caused little damage.

Indiana Michigan Power Co. said only 207 customers in Allen County had their power knocked out. The toll appeared significantly worse to the south. I&M said Blackford County had 134 customers out, Grant County had 231 out and Delaware County, which includes Muncie, reported 1,494 customers without power. Northeastern REMC reported no power outages in its territory at 2:30 p.m.

The National Weather Service forecasts more rain and sleet during the day Tuesday, becoming all rain after 4 p.m. High near 36. East wind around 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. Total daytime sleet accumulation of around an inch is possible.

Tuesday night, the weather service says, rain and snow are likely before 8 p.m., then snow. Low around 32. East wind 5 to 15 mph becoming southeast after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.
