City police said Galvan was shot just inside the door of his house at 3017 McDonald St., near Edsall Avenue. Officers and medics were called there about 1:20 a.m., and Galvan was declared dead at the scene, police said.
Investigators have not established a motive, but they do not believe the shooting happened during a home invasion or robbery.
No arrests have been made, and police have not released any information about suspects.
The coroner’s office confirmed that Galvan’s death was a homicide and that he died from a gunshot wound or wounds.
Galvan’s Facebook page lists his hometown as East Chicago. It’s unclear how long he had lived in Fort Wayne. The cover photo of his Facebook page is a close-up shot of a Taurus-brand handgun.
Police said no weapons were found at the shooting scene and that Galvan did not return fire.
His death was the sixth homicide in Fort Wayne and Allen County this year, the coroner’s office said.
