A Warsaw man has been preliminarily charged with murder after, according to investigators, he strangled his roommate Sunday with cord.

Robert Edward Hurley, 54, is being held without bond.

Kosciusko County Sheriff's deputies were sent to the Hide-Away-Hills Mobile Home Park, 2441 W. County Road 250 South, at 12:47 p.m. Sunday to check on Lionel Dale King, 51. They found King dead. His body has not been autopsied yet, the sheriff's department reports, but he appeared to have been strangled with a cord.

Deputies detained Hurley, King's roommate. Detectives from the sheriff's department said they learned that Hurley had contacted a family member concerning “his involvement in the strangling earlier in the day.” The family immediately contacted the sheriff's department and provided this information, which prompted the check by deputies at the residence. Evidence at the scene indicated that King was strangled and then subsequently dragged into a bedroom in the mobile home.

An autopsy is schedule Monday morning at the Northeast Indiana Forensic Center in Fort Wayne.
