More than four hours after fire broke out at Marketplace of Canterbury in the 5600 block of St. Joe Road on Tuesday morning, firefighters were still on the scene, probing the smoking debris for hot spots.

Cap n' Cork appears gutted. Mitchell's Sports Bar and Grill suffered very serious damage, said Fort Wayne Fire Chief Amy Biggs on Tuesday morning, although

firefighters and building inspectors haven't been able to determine the exact

extent of damage yet. She added that a smaller business might have been damaged in the blaze.

Firefighters stopped the spread of flames before it reached Piere's, she said.

However, that nightclub – including its “Club V” area – sustained heavy water and smoke damage during the struggle to stop the blaze.

The fire was reported at 5:08 a.m. Firefighters arrived four minutes later.

They called the fire as under control at 6:18 a.m. There is no word yet on

the fire's cause or exactly where it started. No civilians or firefighters were injured.
