A 60-year-old Albion man sustained a broken leg and ribs in a Thursday afternoon crash on U.S. 6, just west of Indiana 9.
According to a news release from the Noble County Sheriff's Department, the victim was eastbound on U.S. 6 when his vehicle crossed the center line for an undetermined reason at around 2:50 p.m. The vehicle then struck a westbound semitrailer, driven by a 65-year-old Brampton, Ontario, man, scraping down the side of the trailer until it struck the rear dual axles, breaking them free and spinning the vehicle away from the semitrailer.
The 60-year-old man was pinned inside the vehicle until rescue workers freed him from the wreckage. He was flown to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne and sustained a broken femur, according to the release.
The driver of the semitrailer and his passenger were unhurt, the release said.
