BLOOMINGTON -- What's next for Indiana's Victor Oladipo and Cody Zeller?

The Hoosier basketball standouts continue to win awards. This time they were named All-Americans by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association. That's the first time IU has had two All-Americans in the same season since 1976, when Scott May and Kent Benson did it.

The Hoosiers won the national title that year with a 32-0 record, major college basketball's last unbeaten national champ.

Oladipo made the first team along with Creighton's Doug McDermott, Michigan's Trey Burke, Georgetown's Otto Porter and Gonzaga's Kelly Olynyk. Oladipo averaged 13.6 points and 6.4 rebounds. Oladipo also shares the school single season record for steals with Isiah Thomas. Both have 74.

Zeller made second-team All-America along with Duke's Mason Plumless, Kansas' Ben McLemore and Jeff Withey and Oklahoma State's Marcus Smart. Zeller leads IU in scoring (16.9 points) and rebounding (8.2).

Smart also won the Wayman Tisdale Award as the national freshman of the year.

Oladipo and Zeller are among the finalists for the Oscar Robertson Trophy national player of the year award.

Coach Tom Crean said on his Monday night radio show that the All-America awards are “a really big deal. Both are very deserving.”

IU opens NCAA tourney play on Friday in Dayton, Ohio. The top-seeded Hoosiers (27-6) will play Wednesday night's winner between LIU-Brooklyn (20-13) and James Madison (20-14).
