Former New England Patriots receiver Wes Welker will catch passes from Peyton Manning instead of Tom Brady after signing with the Broncos. Brady was nearly inconsolable about the loss of Welker until he remembered his supermodel wife and super-sized bank account.

Manning felt so bad about stealing Brady's go-to receiver, he sent him the keys to a slightly used Buick, Anthony Gonzalez and Blair White.

Kentucky's new postseason home

Kentucky, last year's NCAA men's basketball champion, did not make the field for this year's tournament. Coach John Calipari soothed his feelings by stepping up the recruiting of the country's Top 5 fifth-graders.

Revis review

New York Jets owner Woody Johnson did not rule out the possibility of trading cornerback Darrelle Revis. He said he will consider any move that will help the team. He didn't say if he was wanting to help the team secure the No.1 pick in the 2014 draft.

House-cleaning measures

The Baltimore Ravens could start the 2013 season without nine starters from the 2012 Super Bowl championship team who have retired, been released, traded or left in free agency. Oh, well, Joe Flacco's making enough money to play both ways now.

Love connection

Tiger Woods and downhill skier Lindsey Vonn have announced they are dating. They posted photos of themselves on Facebook in an accommodating gesture to allow the paparazzi to devote 24/7 of their time to Justin Bieber.

Not that there's anything wrong with that

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said Monday that NFL Combine questions to potential players about their sexual orientation is unacceptable. But if it ever becomes acceptable, the league plans to hire Katie Couric to conduct the interviews.
