Beier appointed to state Emergency Response Commission

Gov. Mike Pence has appointed Bernie Beier, director of the Allen County Office of Homeland Security, to the Indiana Emergency Response Commission (IERC), which maintains certain hazardous chemical records and supervises and coordinates activities of Indiana's 91 local emergency planning committees.

Each local committee has the responsibility of developing an emergency response plan to deal with accidental chemical releases from facilities in its county and with making available to the general public chemical information submitted by those facilities. The IERC consists of 13 members appointed by the governor. They represent local and state government, industry and the public. Beier will represent local government on the commission.
