One person died and three were injured in motorcycle wrecks Saturday in Noble County.
Susan Allen, 52, of Butler, died at about 2 a.m. Sunday at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. She had been thrown from a motorcycle driven by Jack Allen, 49, of Butler. Noble County Sheriff’s deputies report that the Allens’ motorcycle was traveling east on Indiana 8 about 6 p.m. Saturday near its intersection with County Road 600 East when it topped the crest of a hill and could not stop in time to avoid hitting a truck pulling a trailer that was turning into a driveway at the bottom of the hill.
Jack Allen had a concussion, a bruised kidney and “road rash,” abrasions from contact with pavement, deputies reported, and was also taken to Parkview.
Later Saturday, a man and a woman on a motorcycle crashed into a deer but suffered much less serious injuries, deputies report.
While he was riding on Indiana 9 south of Albion, a deer jumped in front of Andrew Littlejohn, 22, of Albion, too close to his motorcycle to avoid striking. After the 9:40 p.m. Saturday crash, he had scrapes on his leg and was treated at Parkview Noble Hospital, and his passenger, Nicole Miller, 20, of Albion, had scrapes on her hands and arms. The accident report noted that both were wearing helmets, which reduced their injuries.
