The city's commercial fašade grant program, which offers dollar-for-dollar matching grants of up to $20,000 to single-tenant buildings and $40,000 to multi-tenant buildings to revitalize older exteriors in the core of Fort Wayne, has earned the Gold Excellence in Economic Development Award from the International Economic Development Council.
Since Mayor Tom Henry began the program in 2008, 63 projects have been completed or are in the process of being completed, generating a private investment of nearly $3 million. Applications for the next round of grants will be accepted Nov. 13 through Dec. 13 and are available at www.cityoffortwayne.org/commercial-programs.html or by calling 3-1-1.
