Zoe Elise Parker of Fort Wayne was crowned Miss Indiana Teen USA on Sunday at the conclusion of a three-day pageant competition at the Renaissance Indianapolis North Hotel in Carmel, on the north side of Indianapolis.
Zoe, 16, who also was named Miss Photogenic, will represent Indiana at the 2014 Miss Teen USA Pageant this summer, a pageant news release said.
She also won a prize package including a four-year academic scholarship valued at $46,000 to Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Mo.; an unspecified scholarship from the New York Film Academy; and many other items.
Other area contestants among the top finishers included Alexandra Dallas of Angola, second runner-up; and semifinalist Raegan Cureton of Fort Wayne, the news release said. Natalie Hicks of Garrett was voted Miss Congeniality.
Zoe, the 2011 National American Miss Junior Teen winner, is the daughter of Lanessa and Michael Parker of Fort Wayne.
She is a sophomore at Canterbury High School, where her activities include varsity cheerleading, speech team and Key Club, her mother said. She is a Canterbury Scholar and on the dean's list.
Zoe dances competitively with Diva Danceworks studio in Fort Wayne and volunteers for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana, her mother said. Zoe enjoys performing in and choreographing school musicals, babysitting, and participating in activities of Young Life, a Christian youth organization.
Her goals include performing field research on marine life after completing a double major in marine biology and animal psychology.
