Again this year the University of Saint Francis is opening up its historic Brookside mansion for Christmas in the Castle.
Each year local florists and designers decorate rooms within the elegant, 24,000-square-foot former home of John Henry Bass, a wealthy industrialist.
After the school bought the property, for years the Bass Mansion, as it was called, was the school's library.
In 2006, Saint Francis moved the library to a new building. The mansion was closed in 2008 and 2009 for a major restoration. It reopened in 2010 for Christmas in the Castle, with all three floors open to the public.
