YWCA Northeast Indiana will receive a $2,000 donation from Payless Gives Shoes 4 Kids. The agency will be distributing merchandise certificates for children's shoes to its clients with children. The annual giving program from Payless ShoeSource includes 750 charitable agencies in all 50 states, as well as Canada, Puerto Rico, and 11 Latin American countries. This is the program's sixth year.

Although studies show that properly fitting shoes are important for children's health and development, a striking number of children don't own a pair of shoes that fit, according to a news release from the YWCA. A large number of YWCA Northeast Indiana's clients arrive at its Crisis Shelter with nothing but the clothes that they are wearing. By helping families who struggle to provide their children with basic essentials, YWCA Northeast Indiana hopes the shoe program will relieve some of the stress parents feel during the holidays while bringing joy to as many children as possible. For more information about the agency's Christmas programs, visit www.ywca.org/NEIN or see it on Facebook or call Sydney McKerr at 424-4908, Ext. 287.
