Snow, snow, and more snow for Fort Wayne

Fort Wayne was moving a little slower Sunday as residents struggled to get around on treacherous roads.

Saturday afternoon found grocery stores under siege as people hurried to lay in supplies for their upcoming three-day ordeal with the weather. The Kroger store in Covington Plaza sold out of eggs by late afternoon Saturday. Sunday found many families outside taking advantage of the fresh falling snow and relatively mild temperatures. The Ross sisters on West Wildwood Avenue were building snowmen and throwing snowballs at each other.

Many people were out shoveling to try to get ahead of the snowfall, but by midafternoon as the snow continued some people were forced to walk down the street because sidewalks were choked with fresh fallen snow.

Although the snowfall is expected to stop Monday the National Weather Service is expecting below-zero temperatures and blowing snow with a high of 3 below zero in the morning and then dropping to near 15 below zero with wind chills to approach 40 below zero.
