TV Diary: A quiz for Robert Osborne fans

TCM fans and, in particular, Robert Osborne fans are in for a special treat at 8 tonight. As part of TCM's 20th anniversary celebration, TCM's film host — for the first time — will be interviewed on “Private Screenings: Robert Osborne.”

On “Private Screenings” Osborne interviews actors and actresses from classic films, but not tonight. Alec Baldwin takes over those duties.

TCM also will air some of Osborne's favorite films. “The Third Man” (1949) airs at 9:30 p.m., “Libeled Lady” (1936) airs at 1 a.m. Tuesday, “Love Letters” (1945) airs at 3 a.m. Tuesday and “The Band Wagon” (1953) airs at 5 a.m. Tuesday. “Private Screenings: Robert Osborn” repeats at 11:30 tonight.

My quiz today focuses on the four films Osborne loves.

1. What was Holly Martins' vocation in “The Third Man?”

2. Who wrote “The Third Man?”

3. Who played the socialite who threatened to sue the New York Evening Star for $5 million on “Libeled Lady?”

4. “Libeled Lady” was nominated for a Best Picture Oscar, but lost to which film?

5. Which actress starred opposite Fred Astaire in “The Band Wagon?”

6. What was the hit song that came from “The Band Wagon?”

7. Who played the amnesiac in “Love Letters?”

Answers: 1. Pulp novelist. 2. Graham Greene. 3. Myrna Loy. 4. “The Great Ziegfeld.” 5. Cyd Charisse. 6. “That's Entertainment!” 7. Jennifer Jones.
