A pizza delivery driver was robbed Tuesday night on Fort Wayne’s south side, at least the second such holdup this month, police said.
According to a Fort Wayne police report, a driver for Pizza by Vito’s told police he was delivering food in the 3000 block of South Barr Street about 8:15 p.m. Tuesday. When he knocked on the door, no one answered. As he turned toward his vehicle, two men came up behind him and one of them called out to him.
The driver said he ignored the man initially, then one of the men demanded all his money. He gave them a small amount of cash, but they demanded more, so he gave them the pizza bag. As he tried to get into his vehicle, one of the men punched him in the face.
The deliveryman got into his car, and as he drove off, he heard a gunshot. When he got back to the store at 4339 S. Anthony Blvd., they found a bullet hole in the driver’s-side door of his vehicle, according to the police report.
No arrests have been made in the case.
Larry D. Washington Jr., 19, was arrested on a robbery charge in the Jan. 3 robbery of a pizza delivery driver in the 5100 block of Winter Street.
