The News-Sentinel sports staff will feature a different verbally committed player for the four NCAA Division I football programs (Ball State, Indiana Notre Dame, and Purdue) in Indiana leading up to National Signing Day on Feb. 5.

Here is today's Indiana featured commit:

JERMANE CONYERS

Position: Defensive end

High School: Ridgeland High School in Rossville, Georgia

Height: 6-foot-3

Weight: 290 pounds

Commitment date: July 19, 2013

Other scholarship offers: 10, including Marshall, Middle Tennessee State and Western Kentucky.

Ranking: Rated a two-star recruit by Rivals.com; rated a three-star prospect by Scout.com and the No. 92 defensive lineman in the country.

Indiana depth chart at position: Defensive end: redshirt senior Ryan Phillis, junior Nick Mangieri, redshirt senior John aihinen, redshirt junior Zack Shaw, sophomore David Kenney, redshirt sophomore Shawn Heffern. Defensive tackle: senior Bobby Richardson, redshirt sophomore Ralphael Green, redshirt junior Adarius Rayner, sophomore Darius Latham, senior Chris Cormier.

Scouting report: Conyers missed the majority of his senior season due to a stress fracture to his tibia, so recruiting services had him lower than he otherwise may have been, as well as colleges shying away from him due to lack of significant tape on him. Despite that, Indiana picked up the Georgia product over the summer and will come in as a college-ready body. He will likely move to the interior for the Hoosiers but has the capability to also play on the edge. Conyers should be fully recovered from his injury once he steps foot on campus, but still may need a year to adjust to Big 10 football. However, with Indiana's lack of difference-making defensive linemen, if Conyers can show he can be disruptive as a freshman, he will see playing time.
